Obituary for Albert "Bert" J. Roma
Albert “Bert” J. Roma, 86, of Whitehall passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest on December 14, 2023. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna (Kern) Roma.
He was the husband of Louise D. (Brinkman) Roma with whom he shared 64 years of marriage this past July. Bert was a graduate of Allentown High School and served honorably in the U.S. Army.
He was employed by the former Western Electric, later retiring from Lucent Technologies. He worked part-time for over 30 years at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Catasauqua.
Bert was a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan. He loved the NY Yankees, golf, football, and handball. He loved Frank Sinatra but above all he loved his family.
He was awarded the Brey Brennan Award for Outstanding City Athlete of Allentown. He was a lifetime member of the Fullerton Fire Hall. Bert was a former president of the Allentown Italian Club. He was a long time member of the Jewish Community Center as well as many social clubs in the Lehigh Valley.
Bert was kind, gregarious and genuine. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish fond memories include his loving wife: Louise D. Roma; sons: Michael “Mickey” Roma of Allentown and family, Joseph Roma of San Diego, CA and family, and daughter: Tina Roma Fisher of Whitehall and family; and grandsons: Benjamin of Hampton, VA; Mason of Philadelphia; and Daniel of Whitehall. He was predeceased by his two brothers, James, and Peter Roma.
Services will be held at 1pm Friday January 12, 2024 at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, PA 18032. There will be a calling period from 12-1pm Friday at the funeral home.
