Obituary for Alexander C. Sofish
Alexander C. Sofish, 48 of Catasauqua, died Wednesday December 3, 2008 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hospice Unit in Allentown. He was the husband of Suzanne D. (Sabol) Sofish and celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary on November 2nd of this year. Born in Windber, PA he was the son of the late Edward and Catherine (Solesky) Sofish. Alex graduated from Penn State University in 1983 with a BS in Horticulture. He worked for many years at Home Depot of Whitehall as a sales associate in the garden department. Prior to that he was employed by the former Frank’s Nursery & Crafts also of Whitehall. Alex loved watching his daughters Rebecca play soccer, Mary play soccer and basketball and following his son Chris in football and soccer. He was very involved with the Catasauqua Youth Soccer Association for many years. Alex enjoyed the fall season, making trips to Penn State football games and helping his friends and neighbors with their lawns. Surviving with his wife are his daughters Rebecca and Mary and his son Christopher all living at home; brother Thomas; uncle Stanley and his wife Joan Sofish and uncle Theodore Sofish; 5 nephews and 1 niece. He was preceded in death by his sister Karen Cindric. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am Saturday December 6th, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church B.V.M, 2nd and Union Sts. Call from 7-9pm Friday, December 5th at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032 and 9-10am Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Sofish Children College Fund payable to Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. or to Lehigh Valley Hospice, 2166 S. 12th St. Suite 400, Allentown, 18103-4799.
