Obituary for Alfred R. Berner
Alfred R. Berner, 82, of Whitehall, died February 11 at home. He was married to Patricia E. (Schwartz) Berner for 58 years. Born in Coplay, he was the son of the late Louis and Theresa (Nickischer) Berner. A U.S. Naval veteran, he served in the Korean War. A member of UAW Mack Local #677, Allentown, he was employed by Mack Trucks, Inc., Allentown, for 29 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whitehall and its Holy Name Society. He was a lifetime member of the West Coplay Maennerchor and the Northampton Liederkranz. Survivors: Wife, daughters, Pamela wife of Kimm Galbraith of Spring City, Michelle Berner of Bethlehem; son, Gregory and wife, Ann Marie of Whitehall; grandchildren,Jessica, Sara Beth, Douglass, Nicholas; a great-granddaughter, Elise. He was predeceased by six brothers and four sisters. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home, 327 Chestnut St., Coplay followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m., St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whitehall. Viewing from 9 to 10:00 a.m., Saturday in the funeral home. Interment, parish cemetery. Contributions: In lieu of flowers to the church or Lehigh Valley Hospice, both c/o the funeral home 18037.
