Obituary for Andrew Edward Matika
Andrew Edward Matika, 87, of Whitehall, died August 7, 2015 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was married to Lillian (Bodisch) Matika for 64 years. Born in Hokendauqua, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Pavlovchin) Matika. A member of UAW, Mack Local, he was a spray painter for Mack Trucks Inc., Allentown for 24 years. He enjoyed bowling, volunteering for his church, gardening, hunting, vacationing in Ocean City MD with his family and retirement travelling with friends and family. A WWII veteran, he served his country honorably in the army. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catasasuqua. Andy was a life member of the West Catasauqua Fire Co. and a member of the Whitehall AARP. Survivors: Wife, sons, Dennis Matika and his wife Deborah of Langhorne, Gary Matiks and his wife Barbara of Schnecksville; grandchildren, Amanda, Kyle and Kelsey; brother-in-laws, Anthony and Ray Bodisch; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael. Services: Viewing from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, August 10, Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home, 327 Chestnut St., Coplay and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catasauqua.
