Obituary for Anita C Shannahan

Anita C. Shannahan, 90, of Bethlehem, died Friday April 19, 2024, at her residence in Kirkland Village. She was the wife of the late Thomas D. Shannahan, Jr. She was born in Tarrytown, NY, and was a daughter of the late Douglas A. and Mabel (Lunn) Calkins. 


Anita was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem where she served as a Deacon. She worked for over 22 years at Hanover Elementary School teaching 5th grade before retiring. Anita volunteered her time, working at the Burnside Plantation and with Historic Bethlehem. She was an avid tennis and bridge player and loved poetry and gardening. 


Surviving are her daughter Carol A. Shannahan, son Thomas D. Shannahan, III and wife Cheryl, grandson Ryan Thomas Shannahan and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. 


A memorial service will be held at 12pm Friday April 26, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, 2344 Center St, Bethlehem, PA. 18017.
