Obituaries
Anna was married for 40 years to the late Frank G. Wechsler, who passed away in 1980. Born in Coplay, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia (Gilly) Tameler and the stepdaughter of the late Herman and Anna (Sipics) Fruhwirth.
Anna was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Coplay, and belonged to the Altar & Rosary Society since 1940. She sang on the choir for many years, and was also a Pierogi maker since they started making them, many years ago.
Anna was a longtime member of the Coplay Saengerbund, having been part of the children and adult chorus. She was also a member of the War Mothers of World War II in Coplay, and volunteered to visit disabled servicemen at several veterans' clinics in eastern Pennsylvania. She was also a member of the Coplay Senior Citizens and enjoyed sewing and needlepoint. Anna worked in the garment industry in several factories in the area.
Survivors include sons John and his wife Kathryn of Whitehall, William and his wife Nancy of Titusville, FL, daughters Anna Marie Schanta and Catherine, wife of Emil Schanta, all of Whitehall, daughters in law Rose Mary Wechsler of Whitehall and Kim Wechsler of Coplay, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons Francis and Robert, son in law Franz Schanta, a brother John, sisters Julia Lakovits and Teresa Wiessner and an infant sister Emma.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Friday December 29, 2017 at St. Peter's Church 4 S. 5th St. Coplay, PA 18037. A viewing will be held from 7-8:30pm Thursday and 8:30-9:30am Friday at Brubaker Funeral Home Inc. 327 Chestnut St. Coplay, PA 18037, formerly Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the church c/o the funeral home.
