Obituary for Anna Torbey
Anna Torbey, 103 years, formerly of Orefield, passed away on Saturday March 25, 2017 in the Phoebe Home, Allentown. Born in Egypt, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn Sokol.
She was the owner of the former Bittner House in Slatington and was also a salesperson in the book department at Kmart in Allentown. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Northampton.
Survivors include a daughter Patricia Greene of Whitehall, daughter in law Grace Torbey of Slatington, 4 grandchildren Sherri, Michele, Gary, and Dennis, 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Dr. Edward Torbey, a brother Charles Sokol, and a sister Mary Puchyr Hankee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Friday March 31, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church 1343 Newport Ave. Northampton, PA 18067. A calling hour will be held from 9:30-10:30am Friday at BRUBAKER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 327 CHESTNUT ST. COPLAY, PA 18037, formerly Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home.
