Obituary for Barbara Ann Wassum
Barbara Ann Wassum 69 years of N. Whitehall Twsp. formerly of Catasauqua died Thursday December 16, 2010 in her residence. She was the wife of the late Winfield Russell Wassum Jr. Born in Allentown she was the daughter of the late William H. and Helen L. (Ruch) Bellesfield. Barbara was constantly giving and doing for others. She was presently employed as a caregiver by Home and Stead of Whitehall since 2005. Previously she lived in Phoenix, Arizona and worked for Thunderbird Memorial Hospital for ten years as a Dietary Supervisor and prior to this she was employed over ten years as a Dietary Consultant for the Phoebe Home of Allentown. Barbara was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Catasauqua for over forty years. She is survived by sons Gary Wassum and Larry husband of Cindy Wassum, brothers Wilson husband of Mary Jane Bellesfield, Gerry husband Carmen Bellesfield and Leslie Benninger. Barbara has four grandchildren Lauren, Erica, Bryar, Tasha and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her son Barry. Barbara’s viewing will be 5:00pm until 7:00pm Tuesday December 21 in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 417 Howertown Road Catasauqua followed by funeral services at 7:00pm in the church with the Rev. Gary L. Walbert officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in her name payable to the church. The Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Catasauqua is in charge of arrangements.
