Obituaries
Born in Reinerton, PA on September 6, 1936, he was the son of the late Karl Koppenhaver and Beulah (Nolan) Koppenhaver.
Ben attended Porter Township High School – Reinerton, PA.
Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology – Lancaster, PA .
After graduation from Stevens, he was recruited by Western Electric (Lucent Technologies) 1957 where he was a tool maker for 6 years.
He later was promoted into a Research and Development Engineering Group. In 1978 he was Promoted to First Level Management. He retired in 1998 as a Manufacturing Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. (40 ½ total years of service), he was appointed to the Zoning Hearing Board in Hanover Township, Lehigh County where he served for 12 years.
Ben was a member of the Society Manufacturing Engineers for 9 years. He serviced in all the chairs, including President of the Organization.
In December of 1973 he was elected to the Catasauqua School Board. Ben served for 25 years, including 10 years as President of the Board.
In 1975 he was appointed by the school board to serve as Catasauqua’s Representative to the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit where he served for 23 years, including President of the Board for 1 year.
In the year 2000 he was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to the Zoning Hearing Board in East Allen Township.
He and Madeline are members of the Rosemont Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, PA. Ben held membership in the following organizations:

Ben will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving along with his wife are, granddaughters; Laura Hafner of Northampton, PA., Christine Deily of Wilmington, NC, Meredith Deily Perryman of Wilmington, NC and Stephanie Deily of Wilmington, NC.; son in laws; Robert Hafner of Catasauqua, PA., Gary Deily of Wilmington, NC. He was predeceased by both daughters; Brenda Koppenhaver Hafner at age 30 and Barbara Koppenhaver Deily at age 43; sisters; Monna Clauser of Lebanon, PA and Jean Conners of Fort Meyers, Florida.
A calling period will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 09:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Catasauqua 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, PA. 18032. Funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park 1700 Airport Road, Allentown, PA. 18109.
