Obituary for Bertha C. Ballas
Bertha C. Ballas, formerly of Egypt, passed away November 3, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Susan Heffefinger, New Tripoli. She was married to the late Stephen R. Ballas, who died in 2002. Born in Ormrod, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Zima) Strongowski. For many years, she was the co-owner of the former Ballas Distributing Co., Northampton. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orfield Survivors, sons, Dennis and his wife Susan; Michael and his wife Elaine of Northampton; daughter, Susan Heffelfinger of New Tripoli, grandchildren, Matthew, Melissa, Mary, Theresa; great-granddaughters, Kendall and Harper; a sister, Stella Nederostek of Jim Thorpe. She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie; a son, Gregory; brothers Julius and Walter; sisters, Catherine Stetler, Florence Wasko, Anna Konapeyus. Services: Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 7,2014, St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Dr., Orefield 18069. Viewing will precede the Mass from 12:30-1:30 p.m., Friday, in the church. Interment, Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton.
