Obituary for Carl H. Hoffman
Carl H. Hoffman, 83 of Palmerton, formerly of Mechanicsburg died Wednesday, December 11th, 2013 at The Summit at Blue Mountain in Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Jean E. F. (Smith) and the late Catherine C. Hoffman. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Herman and Minnie (Peters) Hoffman. Carl was a former member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Catasauqua. He worked for over 35 years for the former Stewart Sandwiches of Allentown. Carl was a meal transporter for the Dauphin County Meals on Wheels. Carl was an active member of the Barber Shop Quartet Singing Society of the Lehigh Valley and of the Keystone Capital Chorus of Greater Harrisburg. Carl was a member and on the Board of Directors of the Mechanicsburg Senior Citizen’s Center. He was a Corporal in the Army serving during the Korean War. Surviving are his daughter Vickie and husband Scott Semmel; sister Hilda Cvamen; sister-in-law Marge Smith; granddaughter Alexandra Semmel; 4 step daughters; 1 step son; many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren. Carl was preceded in death by a son Bruce L.Hoffman and brother John Hoffman. Memorial Services will be held at 3pm Sunday, December 15th, 2013 at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut St., Catasauqua, 18032. There will be a calling period Sunday at the funeral home from 2:30-3pm. Memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to Meals on Wheels of Palmerton care of the funeral home.
