Obituary for Catherine E. McQuillen
Catherine E. McQuillen, 88 of Whitehall died Wednesday, October 27th, 2010 in Hellertown. She was married to George “Reds” McQuillen who died October 11th of this year. They celebrated 68 years of marriage together this past May. Born in Catasauqua, she was a daughter of the late George F. and Mary (Kartje) Gemmel. Catherine was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Catasauqua where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Surviving is her daughter Jane M. and her husband David Morton of Whitehall; brother Sebastian Gemmel of Northampton; sister June Hassler of Whitehall; grandchildren Brian husband of Michele Finley; Beth wife of Joel Seem; Jamie Morton and Matthew Morton; great granddaughters Kathryn Finley and Hailey Peters and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was preceded in death by a daughter Joan Finley; sisters Helen Gemmel, Magdalene James, Rosa Winkler, Jean Schunk, Mary Kuhar, Elizabeth Williams, Anna Sharkazy; brothers John, George and Joseph. Funeral Mass will be 10am Saturday October 30th, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2nd and Union Streets, Catasauqua, 18032. Call from 9-10am at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Catherine’s name payable to Heartland Hospice, 881 Marcon Blvd. #3700, Allentown, PA 18109.
