Obituary for Cecelia H Spesak
Cecelia “Cele” Hutter Spesak, 102, formerly of Catasauqua, passed away on Friday, November 17th, 2017. She was the wife of the late Charles “Chuck” Spesak. Born in Stiles, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Fiedler) Hutter. She attended St. Mary’s parochial school and at that time, completed her commercial school program in 1931. She moved to New York City in 1932 where she worked as a nanny until meeting Chuck in the 1940’s when he was in the Coast Guard. They moved back to Catasauqua in 1945 after her first son was born.
Cele was a member of St. Mary’s Church of the Annunciation B.V.M. in Catasauqua. She worked at the former Western Electric for more than 29 years and retired in 1978. Cele loved reading, doing cross-word puzzles, playing bingo and going to casinos. She loved her children, grandchildren and family, and was always there for them.
Survivors include her sons, Carl and his wife Barbara of Bethlehem and Steven and his wife Carolyn of Mertztown; sisters, Rose Williams of Whitehall and Elsie Weaver of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Claire of Midlothian, VA, Jason of Macungie, PA, Steven of Long Beach, CA and Chad Muthard of Coplay, PA. Cele was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Emma, Joseph, Hilda, Raymond, Frederick, Angela, Frieda and Carl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday November 21st, 2017 at St. Mary’s Church of the Annunciation B.V.M., 122 Union St. Catasauqua, PA 18032. A calling hour will be held from 9-10am at the church. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Gethsemane Cemetery, Catasauqua, PA. The Brubaker Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
