Clifford R. Steinmetz, 77, formerly of Catasauqua, died Friday, January 3, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Hillenbrand) Steinmetz. The couple celebrated 56 years of marriage this past August. Born in Northampton, he was the son of the late Clifford F. and Eleanor (Dieter) Steinmetz.
Clifford and Nancy met at Catasauqua High School and graduated together in 1965. Clifford honorably served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam era and was a Boatswain’s Mate on a wooden minesweeper, the USS Exploit. After the Navy, Clifford became a journeyman carpenter and was a proud member of the Carpenters Union for over 50 years. He was happiest out on a boat fishing or working on projects around his home or for friends. He always enjoyed hosting picnics or holiday gatherings, large or small, for family and friends.
Above all he was a loving husband and devoted father and will be greatly missed.
Survivors, along with his wife Nancy, are his sons Stephen, Peter, and Samuel Steinmetz, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He also had many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Matthew C. Steinmetz, and his sisters Eleanor and Shelia.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
