Obituary for Daniel S. Coval
Daniel Steven Coval, 92, of Hokendauqua, passed away on December 12th, 2018 at Fellowship Terrace, Whitehall. He was the loving husband of Ruth L. (Schenkenberger) Coval for 61 years. Born in Hokendauqua, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Lukachovsky) Coval.
A 1944 graduate of Whitehall High School, Daniel served in the Navy during WWII. He was employed by the Bethlehem Steel’s No. 2 machine shop as a machinist for 11 years. He then enrolled at Kutztown University, graduating in 1963 and later attended Temple University, earning a master’s degree. He taught sixth grade in the Allentown School District for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Northampton. He was a life member of the Jones-Quigg American Legion Post 739 of Hokendauqua and the Hokendauqua Fire Company.
Surviving with his wife are sons Daniel S. Jr. (Dot) of King of Prussia and Mark (Monique) of Philadelphia, brother Eugene (Janice) of Whitehall, and grandchildren Kristen, Katelyn, and Jacqueline.
Divine Liturgy will be held at 10AM on Saturday December 15th, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church 1343 Newport Ave. Northampton, PA 18067. There will be a viewing from 8:30-9:30AM on Saturday at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 327 Chestnut St. Coplay, 18037. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o the funeral home .
