Obituary for David R. McCandless
David R. McCandless, 59, of Whitehall, passed away on August 26, 2020, in his residence. Born on October, 28, 1960, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Rodney and Katherine (Wallach) McCandless. He was a graduate of William Allen High School. David was a master mechanic and worked for places such as Scott’s Chevrolet and Schweikert’s Auto Service in Allentown.
David was a talented mechanic who loved working on cars and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He had a knack for picking up one man’s trash and making it another man’s treasure. Plus, he couldn’t resist a good deal at the auctions. What mattered most to David was his family. He was a true family man and will be missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by three sons, Walker J. McCandless of Whitehall; Austin J. McCandless of Pen Argyl; and Christopher M. Burke- McCandless of Aurora, CO; and two granddaughters, Sophia and Morgan Burke. He is also survived by brother, Dale McCandless of Lehighton; and sister, Lisa Wiley of Schnecksville.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flower, contributions may be made in David’s memory to Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Center at 850 South 5th Street, Allentown, PA 18103.
Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., Coplay, is entrusted with arrangements.
