Obituary for Donald "Don" P. Piper
Donald P. Piper, 78, of Allentown, died at his home Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016. He was the husband and best friend to Ivona Piper. Born in Catasauqua, he was the son of the late Ellsworth and Anna (Shimkanon) Piper.

Don was a great patriot and proudly served his country in the Army for 17 years, retiring as Sergeant 1st Class. He served two tours in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. During his service he was also stationed in Germany and Korea. His time in the military was followed by a successful career with the Rexroth Corporation where he worked for over 25 years before retiring. Don was a friend of Bill W. for more than 26 years.

Don will be missed by his daughter Nancy Heitler Kohl and husband Bruce; son Derek L. Piper; sister Dolores Mizur; grandchildren Sebastian, Grace and Daniel; the beloved Strauss Family; his dear Facebook Family; nieces and nephews; and his dog Spike and the mangy cat. He was preceded in death by his sister Jane Kratzer.

Funeral services will be held at 10am Monday February 29th, 2016 at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032. His viewing will be from 9-10am Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the Catasauqua American Legion, Post #215, care of the funeral home.
