Obituary for Donald E. Gackenbach
Donald E. Gackenbach, 86, died at the Lehigh Valley Hospice on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Born in Allentown he was the son of the late Paul A. Sr. and Verna L. (Ritz) Gackenbach. He was married to the late Joyce (Jacobs) Gackenbach.
Donald was a punch press operator for Stanley Vidmar of Allentown before retiring. He was an active member and Elder at St. Johns U.C.C.- Mickleys. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed Pinochle. He was a member of the senior citizens group of Cetronia Fire Company and a member of the Fearless Fire Company.
Surviving is his son Paul W. Sr. and wife Claire Keeler; brothers Paul A., Jr. and Russell; sisters Dolores Gackenbach Gray and Joyce Fetzer; grandchildren Paul Jr. and his wife Noelle and Lisa (Keeler) Pluchinsky and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Norman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, May 7th 2014 at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, 18032. His viewing will be from 10:00 until 11:00am at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to St. John United Church of Christ, 2918 MacArthur Road, Whitehall, PA 18052.
