Obituary for Dorothy A. Ressler
Dorothy A. Ressler, 91, of Walnutport, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Bethlehem. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene K. Ressler, Sr. for 62 years before his passing in February of 2018. Born in Walnutport, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Barna) Forensky.
Dorothy was a graduate of Palmerton High School and Bethlehem Business School. She worked as a secretary for the former Western Electric and worked at the former Laneco supermarket for many years before her retirement. Dorothy was strong in her faith and was a committed member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Walnutport.
There wasn’t much that Dorothy couldn’t do. She was known for her ingenuity and willingness to “make things better”. Above all, she adored her family. She was a devoted mother and caring grandmother, fondly known as Nana or Nanny. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brig. Gen. (Retired) Eugene Ressler, Jr. and his wife Friederika of Chapel Hill, NC, Brig. Gen. (Retired) Stephen Ressler and his wife Claire of Bethlehem, and Dianne, wife of Richard Granata of Walnutport; and by her grandchildren Daniel, Julia, and Anne, and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, Eugene, she was predeceased by sisters, Catherine Litwin and Margaret Halko.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 1st, 2023, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 1152 Oak Rd. Walnutport, PA 18088. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM in the church. Brubaker Funeral Home Inc., Coplay is entrusted with arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the church at the above address.
