Obituary for Dr. Marian F. Chastain
Dr. Marian Faulkner Chastain aged 91 of Auburn, AL died Tuesday February 11, 2014 in North Augusta, SC where she had been residing since September. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late David P. and Emma (Boyer) Faulkner. She was the wife of the late Dr. Elijah D. Chastain who died in March of 1989. A graduate of Catasauqua High School (1940) and Cedar Crest College (1944) she received her Master’s and Doctorate Degrees from Florida State University. After a year at Purdue University, where she met her husband, she moved to Auburn where she served on the faculty of Auburn University in the School of Human Sciences. She was an active member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Auburn. Survivors: son Philip W. Chastain, Capt., US Army and his wife Margaret of Douglassville, GA.; daughter Gwen C. Lloyd of Edgefield, SC.; 4 granddaughters, 1 great grandson, brother William D. Faulkner of Catasauqua. Services: Reposing Monday Morning February 17th, 2014 at 10 am in the Sanctuary of the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine Street with prayer service at 10:30 am. officiated by Rev. P. Douglas Cronce. Burial to follow in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery, West Catasauqua. A memorial service will be held in Auburn, AL at a later date. Prayers and thanks for a life well lived are welcome and will suffice, thank you.
