Obituary for Edward J. Danko
Edward J. Danko, 91 years of North Catasauqua died Saturday January 3, 2015 at his residence. Born in North Catasauqua, he was a son of the late Stephen and Helen (Procak) Danko. He and his wife Jean R. (Walker) Danko celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in July. Edward was a member of St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church. He graduated in 1941 from Whitehall High School. He was a World War II Veteran, awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge as a member of the famed 42 Rainbow Division. He was Vice-President and General Manager of Utilities Service Company, a subsidiary of Lehigh Structural Steel where he was employed for over 50 years. He was a member of St. John Fisher’s Young at Heart and the Catasauqua American Legion, Post #215. Surviving along with his wife Jean are his daughters: Danielle, wife of Robert Gilly; Deborah, wife of Joseph Casciotti; Barbara, wife of Robert Kennedy; Susan, wife of Dale Hein and Lisa, wife of Michael Casciotti. A sister Marylou, wife of E.A. DaRe. 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one due in March. He was predeceased by Brothers and Sisters Andrew, Stephen, Irene, Agnes, Bernard and Daniel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the former St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church, 1001 2nd Street, N. Catasauqua, PA 18032. There will be no calling hours prior to the service. Immediately following the cemetery interment service the family will greet all friends and relatives at the American Legion Post #215, 330 2nd Street Catasauqua, PA 18032 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name payable to the Catasauqua American Legion Post #215 or St. John Fisher Roman Catholic Church c/o the funeral home.
