Obituary for Elizabeth R. "Betsy" Metzger
Elizabeth R. “Betsy “ Metzger, 86 years formerly of Allentown died January 1, 2017 in her residence in Luther Crest. She was the wife of the late Richard W. Metzger who died in October of 2006. Born in Kingston, Pa. she was the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Turn) Reynolds.
Betsy was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church of South Whitehall. She had worked as an elementary teacher in Allentown for 28 years and as a supervisor of student teachers at Muhlenberg College. She attended Wyoming Seminary, received a BA degree from Penn State in education and a Master's in Guidance from Lehigh University. She sang with the Bach Choir for over 34 years.
Surviving are nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Eric Yeakel at 11:00 am Saturday January 7, 2017 in Asbury United Methodist Church 1533 Springhouse Road Allentown, Pa. 18104. Call 10:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am. Saturday. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the church or to the food bank care of the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua, Pa. 18032.
