Obituary for Elsie Margaret Ivankovits
Elsie Margaret (Bodisch) Ivankovits, 89, died Thursday in her home at Weston Senior Living Center, Northampton of natural causes. She worked in various garment factories until she retired in 1981. She loved to dance and in fact met and married her husband, the late Louis Ivankovits, because he was such a skilled dancer. When she could no longer dance, she listened to polka music on the radio. She preferred the slower polkas and waltzes and would turn off the radio if she hearn a polka that was too "jumpy" Elsie never quite recovered from the shock of the sudden death of her beloved only child, Wayne "Slim" Bodisch in 1986. She took great pleasure in spending her days caring for her grandchildren, Adrienne Bodisch and Myles Bodisch, husband of Anna, until they were grown. She also enjoyed spending time with her two sisters: Alice Bodisch of Northampton and the late Florence Sawicki. She and Alice spent many an afternoon "bumming around" at the malls. Elsie will always be remembered for her quiet reserved manner, sense of humor, her lasagna, apricot kiffles and the unconditional love she showered on her family. She is survived by those mentioned above and also, her great-grandchildren, Ayana and Waylon Bodisch; step-son, Michael Ivankovits, husband to Machelle; stepdaughter, Kathy Demko a, wife to Michael; grandchildren, Zachary and Rachel Demko. She was predeceased by brothers, Arnold, Frederick, Richard, Edward, Walter J., Alfred, Walter, and John. Services: Viewing from 9-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2014, Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., St. Peter's Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay. Interment, St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Whitehall.
