Obituary for Emil E. "Reds" Check
Emil E. “Reds” Check, 82, of Race St. in Catasauqua, died Saturday September 15, 2007 at the VNA Hospice of St. Luke’s in Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Bendekovits) Check. Born in Northampton he was a son of the late Michael and Mary M. (Kasprik) Check. Emil worked for many years as a laborer in the Catasauqua scrap yard. Prior to that, Reds worked as a laborer for Corrugated Cardboard. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army. Surviving are his sons Richard and his wife Connie of Whitehall; Michael, with whom he resided in Catasauqua; brother Albert and his wife Katherine of Catasauqua; sisters Margaret Sperlbaum and her husband Edward of Catasauqua and Caroline Rennig of Coplay; grandson Christopher and his wife Krista of Allentown; his beloved pets Krukker, Butch and Kitty. He is preceded in death by a brother Michael. Services will be held 11am Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032. Call from 10-11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 3893 Adler Place, Bethlehem, 18017.
