Obituary for Ezra "Marty" Carhart III
Ezra M. “Marty” Carhart III, 89, of Allentown, formerly of Hellertown and Emmaus, died peacefully at home Saturday, September 18, 2021. He was the husband of Dorothy J. (Masemer) Carhart and celebrated 66 years of marriage together this year. Born in Camden, NJ, he was a son of the late Ezra M., II and Ruth (King) Carhart.
Marty was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Allentown. He was a graduate of Bucknell University earning his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. While at Bucknell he enjoyed playing soccer. Marty received his master’s degree from Columbia University. He worked for many years and retired from Air Products as the Director of Purchasing. Prior to that he worked as a purchasing agent for Exxon, among other companies. He spent 4 years in Indonesia with Standard Vacuum Oil as the Assistant Materials Manager. Marty served his country in the Army Chemical Corp working as a chemical engineer and was stationed in Ft. Dietrich, MD. He was a longtime member of the Riverton, NJ Yacht Club.
Surviving along with his wife Dorothy are his children, daughters Elizabeth Ricci, Marjorie Ann Hollosy and husband Gyuri, and Barbara Carhart; son James Andrew Carhart and wife Lynn; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother John Stephen King Carhart.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with arrangements.
