Obituary for Fern A. Gilly
Fern A. Gilly, 94 years, formerly of Bethlehem, died Saturday March 4th, at her residence at Cedarbrook Nursing Home in Allentown. She was the wife of the late Michael F. Gilly. Born in Bethlehem, she was a daughter of the late John D. and Margaret (Brewen) Artz.
Fern was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church of N. Catasauqua for many years and was a 1942 Liberty High School graduate. She worked in packaging and assembly for BBraun Medical in Bethlehem for many years before retiring. During WWII she worked in the offices of Bethlehem Steel. Fern enjoyed walking and spending time outdoors, especially with her grandchildren. She appreciated art and took pride in her home.
Surviving are her children sons John Gilly and wife Vickie; Joel Gilly and Madeline and daughter Joann Heffner and husband Sam; and 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Russell Artz.
Funeral services will be held at 11am March 9th, 2017 at BRUBAKER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 234 WALNUT ST. CATASAUQUA, PA 18032. Her viewing will be from 10-11am Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her name, payable to Second Wind Dreams c/o the T.R. Dept. 350 S. Cedarbrook Road, Allentown, 18104.
