Obituary for Florence Varney
Florence "Flossie" (Messenlehner) Varney, 83, formerly of Coplay and Bethlehem, died February 7, 2016 at Cross Keys Village, New Oxford. She was the wife of the late P. Ralph "Pat" Varney. Born in Coplay, she was the daughter of the late Ignatz and Christina Rose (Kroboth) Messenlehner. A 1950 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School and a 1953 graduate of the Sacred Heart School of Nursing, she was a registered nurse for Sacred Heart Hospital, St. Luke's Hospital and Gracedale Nursing Home. She was a former member of Our Lady of Perpetual, Bethlehem. Survivors: Daughter, Bonnie wife of Burt Curry of York; sons, Thomas and his wife Laura of Georgia, David and his wife Carol of Pottsville; grandchildren, Christina, Michelle, Justin and Ethan; a sister, Christine Davis of Bethlehem. She was predeceased by a sister, Claire Porochniak. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, St. Peter's Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay. Interment, St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Whitehall.
