Obituary for Frances H. Mai
Frances H. Mai, of Northampton, formerly of Catasauqua, died Sunday January 23, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Paul Mai of Northampton and celebrated 63 years of marriage together in September of last year. Born in Catasauqua, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Hermina (Nicklas) Schwindenhammer. Frances was a long time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Catasauqua where she was always very active. She was a past president of the Sodality and president of the Altar and Rosary Society for 15 years. Frances loved traveling and all of the time she spent volunteering at the church. Surviving with her husband are her son Lawrence Mai and his wife Jean of Ansonia, CT.; daughter Corinne Henderson and her husband Hayden of Casa Grande, AZ; brother Bernard Schwindenhammer and his wife Bonnie; grandchildren Timothy Mai and his wife Kathryn; Katie Loretz and her husband Kristopher; Becky McArthur and her husband Brian; great grandchildren Macallan and Mitchell Mai, Aidan and Juliana Loretz; and many nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Arthur and Marcella Motsko. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am Friday, January 28th, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2nd and Union Streets, Catasauqua, 18032 with Archbishop Joseph Kurtz officiating as main celebrant. Call from 7-8:30pm Thursday January 27th at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032 and 10-11am Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Sacred Heart Hospice, 2268 S. 12th St. 4th Floor, Allentown, 18103.
