Obituary for Gerald " Jerry" John Burns Jr.
Gerald "Jerry" John Burns, Jr, 52 years old, passed away unexpectedly Tues evening February 28, 2017 in his home in Whitehall. Born in Allentown, he was the son of Nancy L. (Kline) Burns of Whitehall and the late Gerald J. Burns, Sr.

Jerry was most recently employed as a Safety and Training Supervisor for Trans-Bridge Lines in Bethlehem. Prior to that, he worked at Schneider National Inc. and Swift Transportation.

Along with his mother, he is survived by his Fiance Shelley Angstadt, sons Tyler Burns (Fiance Stefanie Fox), Luke Angstadt (Wife Christie, Granddaughter Bella, and another Granddaughter due in June), Derek Angstadt, Daughter Monica Angstadt (Granddaughters Aviary, Laila and Jade, Grandson Caden and another Grandchild due in Sept). He is also survived by his beloved adopted Greyhounds Greyce and Casey.

Jerry had a deep love for Greyhounds and was interested, actively and passionately involved in many Greyhound Rescue Programs.

Another one of Jerry's passions was cars.....more specifically older model cars including his 1969 Black Corvette. Jerry was thrilled to have the opportunity to experience getting behind the wheel of a Nissan GTR at the New Jersey Motorsports Park for a total of 5 laps, his highest speed being 129mph....a surprise gift from his Fiance Shelley for his 50th Birthday.

Jerry also loved his family. He loved having family over for cookouts in which he was the master griller. Jerry always looked forward to spending time with his loved ones during birthday parties, holidays, school functions for Grandkids, annual trips to the beach or just an impromptu get together.

Another interest of Jerry's was his love of music. Jerry loved a variety of genres of music and enjoyed sharing his passion with family introducing new music. Jerry and Shelley enjoyed attending many indoor and outdoor concerts over the years.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, in remembrance of Jerry, the family requests any contributions may be made to Linda Ann's Greyhound Rescue located at 1491 N. 40th St, Allentown, PA 18104
