Obituary for Gerard J. Mondschein
Gerard J. "Gerry" Mondschein, 64 years, of Coplay, passed away on Saturday, March 17th, 2018 in his home. Born in Allentown, he was the son of Teresa M. (Zigovitz) Mondschein of Coplay and the late William A. Mondschein.
Gerry was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Coplay. He was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad as a track inspection foreman for 39 years before retiring in 2014. He was a member of the Coplay Saengerbund, the Coplay American Legion and the West Coplay Maennerchor.
He loved animals, gardening, golf and softball. He traveled the country playing top level fastpitch softball.
Surviving with his mother are brothers William F. and his wife Debbie of Coplay, Thomas J. and his wife Sharon of Northampton, David J. and his companion Joanne of Laurys Station, Jeffrey S. and his wife Melanie of Catasauqua, Matthew C. Sr. and his wife Melissa of Emmaus, Charles J. and his wife Dani of Coplay, and Scott R. and his wife Corinne of Danielsville, sisters Judith A. Heffner, wife of the late Donald Stinner of Rio Rico, AZ, Lisa A. Spangler and her companion Dr. Steve Corbett of Tecumseh, KS, Lori A., wife of Michael Hawk of Orefield, and Janet L., wife of Claude Williams of Bath, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30PM on Friday March 23rd at Brubaker Funeral Home Inc. 327 Chestnut St., Coplay, PA 18037, formerly Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home. There will be a calling period from 5:30-7:30PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an animal charity of one's choice.
