Obituary for Gertrude "Trudy" K. McGonigle
Gertrude “Trudy” Kappes McGonigle, 86 years, formerly of North Catasauqua died Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Fellowship Community in Whitehall, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was the widow of the late Edward H. McGonigle. Born in Catasauqua she was the daughter of William and Louise (Kern) Kappes.
Trudy worked for over 30 years at AT&T as an inspector. She was a member of the former St. Lawrence Catholic Church in North Catasauqua where she also volunteered.
Surviving are her daughters Kathleen L., wife of Frank Marth and Theresa M., wife of Dino Carfara; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers William, Francis, Vincent, Eugene, Leo and Augustine Kappes and sisters Angela Brothers, Marcella Deutsch, Louise Swann and Helen Deibert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday December 9, 2017 in St. John Fisher Church, 1229 3rd Street, North Catasauqua, PA, 18032. Her viewing will be from 9-10am Saturday in the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, PA 18032. Memorial donations can be made in her name to Fellowship Community, 3000 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall, PA 18052.
