Obituary for Gloria J. O'Connell
Gloria J. O’Connell, 60 years of Catasauqua died Wednesday June 10, 2015 in St. Luke’s Hospital Bethlehem. Born in Bethlehem she was the daughter of the late Pauline (Hoke) Bendzlowicz. She and her husband , John T. O’Connell would have celebrated their 29 wedding anniversary this August.
Gloria worked as an administrative assistant for Bethlehem Vo-Tech for many years. She is the present treasurer for St. Elizabeth Athletic Association and the past treasurer and umpire assigner for the Central Whitehall Baseball Association. Gloria was a very active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Catasauqua.
Surviving with her husband are her son John T. O’Connell Jr. and step daughter Pati O’Connell. She was preceded in death by her son Stacey Bendzlowicz and her brother Kevin.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday June 13 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Second and Union Streets Catasauqua, Pa. 18032. Her viewing will be Friday June 12 from 7:00pm until 8:30pm in the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua, Pa. 18032 and from 9:00am until 10:00am Saturday June 13 in St. Mary’s Church. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions payable to the “Stacey Bendzlowicz Memorial Scholarship Fund” which is to be used for the culinary arts. Contributions can be sent to the Brubaker Funeral Home.
