Obituary for James C. McBride
James C. McBride, 89, formally of Allentown, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2021 at The Easton Hospital. He was the loving husband of Shirley (Stephen) McBride for 61 years before her passing on December 10, 2019.
He was born and raised in Catasauqua, a son of the late Robert A. and Mary H. (Vandergrift) McBride. He was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua. James was a retired truck driver who worked for Graver Trucking and Modern Transfer Trucking Companies. He received many driving safety awards and was a member of Mack Million Mile Club without an accident.
He enjoyed going to the Indianapolis 500 Speedway for many years, traveling day trips, especially to old quaint Amish places in Lancaster and historical places. He always enjoyed family picnics and get togethers. As a young man, he played the drums for Catasauqua American Legion. James had a contagious laugh, which will be missed by his loving family.
He is survived by nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by a brother, Robert in 2005 and a sister, Mary Somers in January 2021.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Allentown. A calling period will commence graveside 10:30 A.M. with a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine Street, Catasauqua, PA. 18032.
