Obituaries
James Joseph Youman, 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bristol, CT., he was a son of the late George E. Youman and Edith Youman.
He was the husband of Elsie E. (Ortiz) Youman with whom the was together for 11 years, sharing 4 years of marriage last July.
James graduated from high school and briefly attended college before enlisting in the United States Coast Guard which he served with honor aboard the USCGC Boutwell. While serving in the Coast Guard, James was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, First Good Conduct Award and a Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation.
After the Coast Guard, James was a hard worker with numerous companies before his retirement in 2015 as a Warehouse Supervisor for JC Penney
James was a dedicated volunteer with the Eastern Salisbury Fire Department for numerous years where he enjoyed his time and comradery with the fellow volunteers within the community.
He was a member of Koinonia House of Worship Church in Hokendauqua. James was active in the church and enjoyed assisting the church with whatever the needs were, however the lawncare was where he found the most joy. James embraced the church and furthered his relationship with the Lord. Members of the church will deeply miss James.
James had many passions. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed the outdoors which included fishing, kayaking, archery and hunting. He enjoyed going to the shooting range, loading his own ammunition and above all spending quality time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish fond memories include; his wife Elsie E. (Ortiz) Youman, son Christopher J. Youman and wife Wendy; daughter Joy M. DeRosia and husband Steve, brothers; George and Arthur Youman; grandchildren Zoe M. and Ethan J. Youman; stepchildren, Yadira Bove and husband Chris, Juan Oritz and wife Claribelle and Jerson E. Rivas; step grandchildren Julissa Medina, Daniel Medina and Jaylen Medina, Emilia, Elayna and Emmanuel Ortiz,; step great grandchildren Kayden and Judah Colons as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a calling period on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 3:30 pm – 7:00 p.m. at Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 327 Chestnut St., Coplay, PA. 18037. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Eliseo Rivera will commence in the funeral parlor at 05:30 P.M.
A burial with military honors will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Jerusalem Western Salisbury Cemetery in Allentown.
