Obituary for Jane M. Gillespie
Jane M. Gillespie, 86, of Catasauqua, died Friday June 27th, 2008 at her residence. Jane was the wife of Donald D. “Dewey” Gillespie of Catasauqua and would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in October of this year. Born in Catasauqua, she was the daughter of the late David L. and Magdalena (Kringe) McLaughlin. Jane was primarily a homemaker. She began Jane Gillespie Wedding Service after her children were in high school and operated the business for 26 years. Jane and Dewey retired in 1985. She enjoyed being apart of the Telephone Pioneers of America, one of the largest industrial, community and social service groups in the country. She was a member of St. Lawrence, sang in their choir and was a member of their Altar and Rosary Society. She was a graduate of Catasauqua High School and Allentown Business College. She is survived by her husband, son David Gillespie from Devon, PA; daughter Anne Marie, wife of Paul Disdier, Skillman, NJ. Sister Alice Sullivan of Severna Park, Maryland. Grandchildren Andrew, Claire and Ryan. She was preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth. Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church, 1001 Second Street, Catasauqua, PA. Call from 9:30-10:30am Monday at the Brubaker Funeral Home Inc. 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her name to the St. Lawrence Memorial Fund or Holt International Children’s Services (holtintl.org) in care of the funeral home
