Obituaries
Joan F. Mikula, 89, formerly of Catasauqua, died Thursday January 26, 2023 at Bethlehem Manor. She was the wife of the late John J. Mikula and celebrated 57 years of marriage before he passed in 2014. Born in Jeddo, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Corra) Clarke.
Joan was a member of St. John Fisher Catholic Church in North Catasauqua where she also sang in the choir. She received an Associate’s Degree in Library Science from Northampton Community College. Joan also received her X-ray Technician’s license and worked for many years as an X-ray Technician and later a librarian for Lehigh Valley Hospital. Prior to that she was a librarian for the Catasauqua Public Library. Joan was active in her community. She was a member of the Catasauqua Women’s Club and the Catasauqua Bicentennial Committee. Her and her husband loved Notre Dame football and enjoyed traveling. Above all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren, attending many of their games and sporting events.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Joan is survived by her daughter Jean Kutchera and husband John; son James Mikula and wife Rose; sister Georgia Brown; grandchildren Kyle, Megan, Sara, James, Joanne and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Tom and brothers James, William, John and sister Mary.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11am Saturday February 4, 2023 at St. John Fisher Church, 1229 3rd Street, North Catasauqua, PA. 18032. There will be a calling period at the church from 10:30 am - 11am. Interment to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Catasauqua is honored to handle the arrangements.
