Obituary for Joanne LaRue Mooney
Joanne LaRue (Dittmar) Mooney, 87, of Egypt, died on January 14, 2021 after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born in Lehighton, PA., the eldest daughter of Dolores Williams. Joanne was the loving wife of the late Earl Mooney to whom she was married to for 63 years.
She volunteered for many years at The Miller Memorial Blood Center, thrift shop and The Pioneers. She was employed by Lucent Tech for over 20 years.
In her free time, she was an avid reader, gardener, puzzler, and crocheted hundreds of afghans, as well as some for hospitalized babies. Joanne was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her four daughters; Deanna, wife of David Winch; Dianna Kraynick; Doreen wife of Ed Painz and Denise Mooney; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; sister Betty and brothers, David, and Doug. She was predeceased by: Baby brother, son-in-law, John Kraynick and granddaughter Rachelle Kraynick.
Due to the pandemic, there will not be a visitation. Once it is safe to gather, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
