Obituary for John A. "Jack" Edmonds
John A. “Jack” Edmonds, 79, of North Catasauqua, died peacefully at his home Wednesday, August 10th, 2011. He was the husband of Sylvia (Kern) Edmonds. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late August and Margaret (Kistler) Edmonds. Jack was served in the U. S. Navy in the Korean War as a fire controller. Jack was employed by D. F. Bast as Vice President and was instrumental in obtaining Hauling Job of the Year award for the nation in 1974 and again in 1977. He was employed in 1982 by New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc., a major state aggregate producer and construction company, as General Transportation Manager & Erection Coordinator of bridge and building operations. Jack was also a consultant to Harris Camden Equipment Terminal of Camden, NJ since 2005. He also served on state and national committees for improved & safe hauling techniques for oversized and overweight loads. He was a member of the Brookside Country Club, Concordia Lutheran Church in Macungie, the American Legion and East End Fire Co., both of Catasauqua. Surviving along with his wife are daughter Brenda Burleson, wife of Robert Burleson; sons Michael and wife Susan; Brian and Steven; brother James husband of Clara Edmonds, grandchildren Ricky and Haley Burleson, Kristina, Andrew, Michelle and Kerrie Anne Edmonds. Memorial Services will be held 11am Monday August 15th at the Concordia Lutheran Church, 2623 Brookside Road, Macungie, PA 18062. Call 10:30am until 11:00am Monday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to the church or the Lehigh Valley Hospice 2166 S. 12th Street Allentown, Pa. 18109. The Brubaker Funeral Home of Catasauqua is in charge of arrangements.
