Obituary for John Andrew Yanek
John Andrew Yanek, 66 years, of North Catasauqua died Wednesday January 2, 2008 at St. Luke’s VNA Hospice in Bethlehem. He was the husband of Joanne (Hochella) Yanek of North Catasauqua and celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in June of 2007. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Anna Lapsansky Yanek. John was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in North Catasauqua. He was a graduate of Catasauqua High School and a member of the 1959-1960 champion basketball team. John was an avid hunter, golfer and fisherman. He worked for Iron Workers Local #36 of Easton for 34 years, serving as a business agent before retiring. Surviving with his wife are sons John Joseph and his wife Jackie of North Catasauqua and Joseph J. and his wife Ann of Northampton; brother Dennis and his wife Sandra of North Catasauqua; grandchildren Ashley, Matthew and Jada; niece Melanie and nephew James. Memorial mass will be held at 10am Saturday, January 5, 2008 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 1229 3rd Street, N. Catasauqua, 18032. Call from 9-10am at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to the St. Luke’s VNA Hospice, care of the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua, 18032.
