Obituary for John D. Ivankovits
John D. “Ivan” Ivankovits, 75 years, of Coplay, died Sunday September 9th, 2018 at St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown. He was the husband of Anita (Milkovits) Ivankovits of Coplay and celebrated 39 years of marriage this past July. Born in Coplay, he was a son of the late August and Johanna (Petrasovits) Ivankovits, and he was the youngest of their 13 children.
John worked for 35 years as a highway designer for PennDot before retiring in 1995. Most recently he worked for McTish, Kunkel & Assoc. for nearly a decade after his retirement. He was an avid waterfowl hunter and fisherman. He loved to golf, bowl, and also enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. He loved to sing and polka dance at the Saengerbund. But most of all, he was a devoted grandfather who was invested in his grandchildrens’ lives and future successes.
Surviving along with his wife Anita are his children John and wife Amy O’Brien of Lower Macungie Twp., stepson Timothy Knopf and wife Traci of Whitehall; stepdaughter Michele Koch of Miami, FL; sisters Margaret and husband Larry Kish of Bethlehem, Emma Brey of Allentown; grandchildren Jack Ivankovits, Jonathan Koch and Lauren Knopf, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11am Thursday September 13th, 2018 at Cedar Hill Memorial Park’s Chapel Mausoleum, 1700 Airport Road, Allentown, PA 18109. Call from 10:30am to 11am at the mausoleum on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Cetronia Ambulance Corp. 4300 Broadway, Allentown, 18104.
