Obituary for John D. "Murph" James Jr.
John D. “Murph” James Jr. 80 years of N. Catasauqua died Monday July 23, 2012 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. In June of this year he and his wife; Shirley (Marx) James celebrated 59 years of marriage. Born in Catasauqua he was the son of the late John D. James Sr. and Magdalen (Gemmel) James. John worked as a union carpenter for over ten years before his employment at Western Electric of Allentown where he retired after 30 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, a member of the Presbyterian of Catasauqua and a member of the1949 Catasauqua High School class. John served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. Surviving with his wife Shirley are daughters Debra wife of John Moll, Patricia DeMentri, Karen wife of Gerald Budny, sister Marie McKittrick, brothers Kenneth husband of Dottie James and George husband of Janet James. John has six grandchildren, Jason Moll, Nicole DeMentri, Christopher Budny, Katherine Budny, Anna Budny and Elaina Budny. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Ann Hahn. Funeral services will be officiated by the Rev. P. Douglas Cronce at 2:00pm Friday July 27 in the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. 234 Walnut Street Catasauqua, Pa. 18032. Call 1:00pm until 2:00pm Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name payable to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o the funeral home.
