Obituary for John E. Tanzos
John E. Tanzos, 85, of Whitehall, formerly of Coplay, passed away January 9, 2017 at home. He was married to the late Rose M. (Stangl)Tanzos for 44 years. Born in Coplay, he was the son of the late John F. and Anna A. (Dragovits) Tanzos. A 1949 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, he was a meat cutter for A&B Meats, Allentown, and later, a co-owner of several wholesale and retail businesses. A Korean War veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Army and was a life member of the American Legion of Coplay Post #426. John was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Coplay and a member of the former Knights of St. George. He was a life member of the Coplay Saengerbund. Survivors: Son, John C. of Whitehall; daughters, Jeanette James of Nazareth, Janice wife of Jeff Greenzweig of Whitehall; grandchildren, Brandy, William, Kaitlin, Jillian, Alex, Kyle; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Kraynik; companion, Emma Weber. He was predeceased by a sister, Anna Cortazzo. Services: Viewing from 9-30-10:30 a.m., Friday, January 13, Robert A. Hauke Funeral Home, 327 Chestnut St., Coplay followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m, St. Peter Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St., Coplay. Interment, St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Whitehall.
