Obituaries
John was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Coplay. He was employed by the former Bethlehem Steel as a welder & fitter for 42 years before retiring in 1987. He was also a passionate Electrolux salesman until the age of 90, often lovingly referred to as “Mr. Marakolux” or “Mr. Electrovitz”.
John was an Army veteran of WWII, serving as Staff Sergeant. He received a Bronze Star Medal with the 324th Infantry and was also a member of the Coplay American Legion Post #426.
Survivors include a son Michael of Poughkeepsie, NY, a daughter Monica, wife of Theodore N. Halkias of Bath, brothers Joseph and his wife Cindy of Bethlehem and James and his wife Carol of Northampton, sisters Anna Feichtel of Northampton and Theresa, wife of Gary Renner of Northampton, granddaughters Rachel and Natalie, and a great grandson Ivan. He was predeceased by a brother Stephen and sisters Helen Keeney and Mary Schwartz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday October 9th, 2018 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church 4 S. 5th St. Coplay, PA 18037. There will be a viewing from 8:30-10am on Tuesday at Brubaker Funeral Home Inc. 327 Chestnut St. Coplay, PA 18037. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church.
