Obituary for John Holenda
John “Inks” Holenda, 89, of North Catasauqua, died Friday May 25, 2007 at Fellowship Manor in Whitehall. He was the widow of Elaine L. (Knauss) Holenda. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Verholy) Holenda. John worked as a drop forger for 42 years for the Phoenix Forge Company in Catasauqua. He was a founding member and past president of the Catasauqua Jr. Baseball Association. John also bowled in various leagues in the Lehigh Valley. Serving as a medic in the Army in the European theater during WWII he received three bronze stars. Surviving are a son: John J. and his wife Sherri of Catasauqua; daughters Janet Schmidt and her husband Steven of Whitehall, Kathleen Russell and her husband David of Allentown; and 7 grandchildren. John is preceded in death by brothers Daniel and Michael and sister Catherine Czor. Services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, 18032. Call from 9:00 am until 10:00am in the funeral home. Interment to follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Allentown. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
