Obituary for John J. Senchak Jr.
John J. Senchak Jr., 73, of Whitehall, died Sunday September 16th, 2018, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, surrounded by loved ones. He was the husband of Gloria J.(Broadhead) Senchak, with whom he would have celebrated 33 years of marriage this month. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late John J. and Helen (Anderko) Senchak Sr.
John was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Whitehall, where he was a former council member, lector, usher, and Eucharistic Minister. He was a 1963 graduate of Dieruff High School, where he wrestled and played baseball.
John was employed by Lehigh Valley Hospital as a nurse’s tech for 19 years before retiring. Prior to that, he worked as a printer in the office and plant of Western Union for 20 years.
He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a boatswain’s mate on the USS Telfair. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.
Survivors include his wife, sons Keith M. Senchak and his fiancée Annie Cope, Brian D. Senchak and his wife Mercedes, William J. Meyer II and his wife Carey, and Chris J. Meyer and his wife Yurber, a sister Charlotte Senchak, grandchildren Evan and Cameron Senchak, 4 step grandchildren, and 1 step great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday September 19th, 2018 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church 3355 MacArthur Rd. Whitehall, PA 18052. There will be a viewing from 7-8:30pm on Tuesday and 10-11am on Wednesday, both in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the church. Brubaker Funeral Home Inc. 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032, is handling arrangements.
