Obituary for John L. Zemba
John Lawrence Zemba, 81, of Whitehall, died Friday, February 25th, 2011 due to complications of spinal cancer. Born in 1929 in Catasauqua he was the son of the late Joseph L. and Mary Zemba (nee: Sromovsky). He was the husband of Doris A. Moyer Zemba (nee: Shaner) and would have been married 27 years this April. John was a private first class who served with honor in the Army during the Korean War. Also surviving John, along with his wife, are his son Jeffery and wife Wendy Brown and their son Shawn; stepchildren Delores and James Valinski, Carl and Barbara Moyer, James and Cathy Moyer and Anna Wilkerson; brother Jacob “Jack” Zemba of Macungie; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara, his son Gary, brother Joseph and sister Dorothy who died as an infant. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, March 1st, 2011 at the Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc., 234 Walnut St. Catasauqua, PA 18032 with the Rev. Rebecca Stephens officiating. Call from 12-1pm at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery at 2735 Walbert Ave. in Allentown. Memorial contributions may be made in John L. Zemba’s name payable to St. Luke’s V.N.A. Hospice, 2455 Black River Road, Bethlehem, PA 18015. .
