Obituary for John Meckes
John Meckes, 93, of Hokendauqua, passed away on October 13, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy “Dot” M. (Micklus) Meckes for 39 years before her passing in July of 2007. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Joseph, Jr., and Helen (Balasky) Meckes.
John was a graduate of Emmaus High School. He honorably served his country as military police in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a machinist for General Electric for 33 years before his retirement in 1989. John was a member of Young at Heart BVM Group in Northampton.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Jody Martin of Florida, Judy, wife of Brian Steffen of Coopersburg, Sandra, wife of William Groller of Florida, and Connie, wife of Curt Fehr of Allentown; six grandsons and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister, Sandra Meckes. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Anthony Meckes.
