After graduating high school, John served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. In 1960, he received an award for best athlete in the City of Allentown, an honor of which he was most proud. John worked for 16 years at the Allentown Record Company before taking a job with the U.S. Postal Service. Affectionately known as “Mockie”, he was loved by those who were blessed to have him as their mailman. John was a member of the American Legion and worked at Willowbrook Golf Course after his retirement. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by daughters Jill Schafer Boehme and her husband Eric, and Jamie Soranno and her husband Tom, and eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Maggie, Rachel, Ida, Spencer, John, Molly, and Asa. He is survived by one brother and two sisters and preceded in death by ten siblings.
