Obituary for Joseph Carl Binder
Joseph Carl Binder, 89, of Jim Thorpe, formerly of Northampton died Saturday June 11, 2022 at Phoebe Home in Allentown. Born in Coplay, he was a son of the late Joseph J. Binder and Mary (Kosits) Binder Tomol.
Joe worked for the former Tarkett in Whitehall as a factory worker for many years before retiring. He was a Corporal in the Army serving in Korea as a helicopter mechanic during the Korean Conflict. Joe was a member of the Mauch Chunk Rod & Gun Club, Jim Thorpe American Legion Post #945 and Nesquehoning Sokol Club.
Joe was a sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting the horse race track and clearing trails for riding his all-terrain vehicles on his land. An animal lover, Joe also enjoyed caring for his 4 dogs over the years. His last dog Muffin, who was a rescue dog was Joes favorite companion. In his younger days Joe also enjoyed playing the accordion.
Joe was proud of his family but was particularly proud of his eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would also like to thank the staff at Phoebe Home, Allentown for their compassion and care over the last year.
Surviving are his daughters Christine Hutchison and husband John, Susan Rex; sons Joseph J. Binder and Michael Binder and wife Leslie; brothers Alfred Binder and William Binder and wife Sherrie; grandchildren CPT Sean P. Hutchison and wife Alexandra, Dr. Alicia Kunkel and husband Gregory, Timothy Rex, Christopher Rex, Matthew Rex, Joseph W. Binder, Kyle Binder and Christina Binder; great grandchildren Braden and Hadley Hutchison. Joe was preceded in death by his brother John W. Binder.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Phoebe Home, 1925 W. Turner St. Allentown, PA 18104 or to Carbon County Friends of Animals, 77 W 13th St Jim Thorpe 18229.
