Obituary for Joseph D. Galm
Joseph D. Galm, 92, of Whitehall Township, passed away on June 25, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest. He was the loving husband of the late Josephine B. (Barberi) Galm for 62 years before her passing in May of 2017. They shared a love like no other. The family is comforted knowing that “Joe & Josie” are together again.
Joseph was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who honorably served his country as a Corporal from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict. He was a 1947 graduate of Catasauqua High School and worked at the General Ribbon Mill from 1947-1951. Joseph went on to work as a supervisor of computer operations for Lucent Technologies, formerly known as AT&T and Western Electric for 32 and ½ years before his retirement in 1985. He was a member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church of Coplay.
Joseph was not your average 92 year old. What made him unique was his interest and proficiency in technology. He was extremely analytical and loved learning new things from his grandchildren. He was a master at ordering on Amazon, GrubHub, and DoorDash. He also loved his Snickers and completing crossword puzzles. Above all, Joseph adored his family. He was a loving father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Joseph is survived by daughters, Carol wife of the late Joseph Yanavitch of Coplay, and Christine wife of Glenn Hulse of Fairfax Station, VA; and grandchildren, Jessica, wife of Shawn Christy, Natalie, Patrick, and Shane. He was predeceased by siblings, Teresa Galm, Marie Galm, Catherine Jaindl, Anna Wagner, and John A. Galm.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 4 S. 5th St. Coplay, PA 18037. A calling period will be held 10 -10:30 AM in the church.
